RESTORATION

Woodchester Mansion

Woodchester Mansion is the house that time forgot.

This elaborately designed house in French Gothic Revival style made entirely of golden limestone was started in 1855, but abandoned 16 years later.

It lay virtually undisturbed at the end of a valley until it was taken over by the Woodchester Mansion Trust. The aims of the trust uniquely combine historic building conservation, education and public access.

Today, work continues on repairs, but it has been decreed that 'it will never be finished'.....so that it remains an unfinished masterpiece.

Glasgow Steel Nail Co were asked to produce a wrought iron L-shaped nail to help secure the stone slates to the roof
