CONSERVATION

The Pajaro Jai

The Pajaro Jai is part of an ambitious project to help the Chocoe Indians in the Darien Rainforest of Panama to develop a sustainable way of life.

By teaching these indigenous people skills to work with wood, the project aims to ease them into the modern world while still preserving their environment and culture.

Glasgow Steel Nail Co supplied traditional cut boat nails for the boat.

The boat is now on its World Odyssey and is being used in conjunction with the United Nations and conservation groups  to encourage the self-sufficiency of indigenous societies and to promote solutions to environmental problems around the world.
