RESTORATION

James Madison's Montpelier

The Montpelier mansion was the home of James Madison, fourth President of the United States of America. He is known as the "Father of the Constitution", author of the Bill of Rights and chief architect of the American Republic.

The Bill of Rights plays a central role in American law and government, and remains a fundamental symbol of the freedoms and culture of the nation.

The mansion is being restored in size, structure, form, and furnishings to the home that James and Dolley Madison knew in the 1820s. Glasgow Steel Nail Co supplied traditionally L shaped, but strengthened, Floor Brads for use on the heart pine floor boards.
