RESTORATION

The Floating Kitchen

This is the name of a television series, a documentary, shown on the Discovery Realtime channel and other channels in 2007.

It follows the exploits of Simon Woodhouse, a chef and boatbuilder, and friends restoring a 48' 1937 Anstruther built herring boat called 'Water Lily' then sailing her across to France and up the Seine to Paris to open as a floating restaurant. Simon was given a very limited budget and only five weeks to purchase, restore and get the boat to France.

The film was made by Century Aspect Films and the restoration involved using traditional boat nails from Glasgow Steel Nail Co.
